Why Better People Care? Because we’re missing things that matter as we care for people. Especially our seniors. And they deserve better. They’ve lived a whole life, and have a lot of history. Rich history with beautiful, hard, painful, mundane, challenging elements. And now they deserve for us to honor that history, and honor them as individual people, and do a remarkable job of caring for them.
By comparison with much of the world, folks living in the United States have it better than most. But we can do better. We should do better.
I’ve seen the gaps in our care in my work as an Occupational Therapist in our care communities…and as a family member and friend. I’ve worked to fill them, and yet there are more. It comes down to honoring people and loving well; recognizing them as valuable humans who deserve our service.
So here I am. Moving forward with my passion for caring for people, as an Occupational Therapy professional. And as a granddaughter, a daughter, a sister, niece, friend, Mom, teammate, colleague, fellow human. People have counted on me, and I have counted on them. It’s about relationship and loving well.
