Dementia Resources for the Care Partners

Here’s a quick list of ideas to make the dementia journey easier, to give care partners more tools at their disposal to make it through the process.

  1. Follow “thedawnmethod” on Instagram.  Every day, there are a couple of posts that give very helpful tidbits of information to bring light to the dementia journey.
  1. If you are new on the dementia road, go to the Alzheimer’s Association website https://www.alz.org/, where you will find good introductory information about dementia, as well as additional resources.
  1. If you’re more familiar to the dementia journey and are seeking additional information, go to https://thedawnmethod.com/ where you will find a wealth of insights as well as resources.
  1. Seek out support groups, either through the Alzheimer’s Association, or if you’re in Northern Colorado, through https://dementiafriendlycommunitiesnoco.org/.  If you’re not in Colorado, look for a nearby dementia friendly community.  Your local Office On Aging may be able to help you find additional resources.
  1. Talk with your family and friends.  Don’t hide the reality of dementia.  Begin openly talking about it.  You’re going to need family and friends through the process.
  1. Speak with a loyal friend or two.  Set the stage for them to know what’s going on, and to know that you are going to be counting on them for their help in the coming days.  And remember that this isn’t just a “take” situation….you will likely be able to help them in the future, and you’ll be able to “pay forward” their kindness.
  1. Be in touch with us through our contact page.  We wish to be a resource, to bring hope, and to help folks find a path for the future.

With you in the journey,

Jill
