Most companions with dementia have 1-2 pairs they continue to wear over and over again, even when we buy them new ones.
As an occupational therapist, I understand that when we change a shoe, we change the softness, height, etc, which changes the input the body receives through the foot. New shoes also have better grip. This can set them up for falls due to catching their feet or being unfamiliar with the new shoes.
Our recommendation: if you can, don’t change their shoes 😉
